A Somewhat Buddhist Web Site

About This Site

AboutLisa Jones

BuddhaJones is like Mother Jones -- both the reformer and the magazine -- except it has nothing to do with Mother Jones at all. "Jones" is slang for a strong, compulsive craving. "Buddha" means one who is a awake. "BuddhaJones" means longing to see the Buddha, or single-mindedly yearning to awaken -- except it sounds snappier.

BuddhaJones is created by people who practice Nichiren Buddhism, but this site is not supported or sanctioned by any religious group, sect or school. In fact, no one really cares for it.

You need not be a Nichiren Buddhist.

Articles on this site are put through some sort of editorial review, but we make no warranties regarding copy editing and proofreading. What you read on this site may or may not be factual, correct or amusing.

This site is updated at irregular intervals.

BuddhaJones has no particular editorial goal other than to be a site where people can share thoughts and experiences related to Buddhism. Humor is welcome. No topic is off limits as long as there's a philosophical/Buddhist element to it. It is unlikely that we will publish artless smut. If you're a writer of artless smut, we're sorry if this hurts your feelings.

If you are offended by or would like to rebut something on this site, you are double-especially welcome to submit an article.

Letters to the editor become the property of this web site. If you send a letter to the editor, it may appear on this web site. If you prefer that your name be withheld if your letter is published, please let us know. If you do not want your letter to be published at all, please let us know. If your letter contains insults or criticism of this site, it's fair game for publishing and, if we are in a mood, we may have some fun responding to your comments.

If you take issue with something that is posted on one of the blogs, please contact the blog author. The site editor(s) do not edit the blogs. Reader comments posted on the blogs are not screened or edited. The blog authors reserve the right to delete spam and other comments at their discretion.

This site floats like a lonely island in the middle of a lake. Every so often, a ferry goes by, or maybe a sailboat. Most people can't bear to look at the island, but those who do -- those brave ones -- shiver with a strange sense of recognition.

This site is a collaborative effort and would not be possible without contributions from many writers, artists and readers. Lisa Jones is ultimately accountable for what you see here. Typos, naughty words, offensive satire -- she's the one to lacerate.

Thank you!
