Check out "Phoebe Snow's success comes after great sorrow" in the San Francisco Chronicle. It's about Snow's revitalized singing career and coping with the death of her daughter, who had special needs.
...She's a Buddhist, a practitioner of the Nichiren Shoshu style, whose practitioners chant "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo" as a meditation tool. She says her practice is the main thing keeping her going after the death of her daughter."When Valerie died, I thought I would rail against my religious practice," Snow says. "I questioned it at first for obvious reasons. But then my faith deepened. I became much more devoted. I found, almost ... I'm trying to find the right word to describe it ... sanctuary."

B-Bar -- thanks for turning me on to Phoebe Snow "Live." I had never heard of her before (different generation?) I downloaded her CD thru Amazon and have been listening to it all weekend.Maybe it's just where I am in my life at this moment...but this is the best "break up" CD I've heard in a long time. You can feel longing and loss in the songs, but also hopeful, enduring love, and looking forward to another day with joyous energy. This CD is a party with heart and humor. I'm loving it.
