NichirenPracticeBuddhism

Questions, should you choose to answer them:

1.  Describe yourself in 3 words.
2.  What is your favorite piece of Buddhist
     literature?
3.  What draws you to read Buddhajones?
4.  What do you value about your practice, if you
     do practice, Nichiren's Buddhism?

1.  Painfully empathetic. Driven.2.  The Lotus Sutra, in specific the Hobenpon and       the Jigage (can't remember the numbers).3.  I find people's understandings and experiences       regarding Buddhism fascinating and       illuminating, especially sometimes.4.  I am in love with my Gohonzon.

1. Interested, optimistic, arthritic.2. The Way of the Bodhisattva by Shantideva.3. There is no other forum for exploring and critiquing Nichiren Buddhism from a nonsectarian, lay (rather than academic or priestly) point of view.4. I value the confidence I have gained over the years, confidence in the ceaseless unfolding of compassion.

1. Frank. Uncluttered. Sleep-deprived.2. On Attaining Buddhahood, just because it's so brief and to the point.3. I feel I should keep an eye on things here.4. After all these years, I most enjoy burning the incense.

1.  Inquisitive, sensitive, other-worldly.2.  A piece by Nichiren, "Reply to Kyo-o", in the      first volume of translations.3.  I want to understand more about Nichiren      Buddhism and it both attracts and repels      me.4.  I find that chanting, especially to my      gohonzon, markedly clarifies my mind, my      issues, and especially my blind spots so I      have a much better idea how to commence      with people and activities in the coming      day.  I seem to miss the sutra at night      sometimes, but I gather from here that      that may not be so important.
