Amy Winehouse RIP

NichirenChantingPracticePolitics

Singer-songwriter Amy Winehouse has died at the age of 27. The Los Angeles Times reports that Winehouse was found dead in her London home.

Winehouse chanted daimoku. As exemplified by this report, the press treated her practice in a snarky way:

The smackhead singer has been trying to find peace in her chaotic life by chanting Nam Myoho Renge Kyo.

Goodbye, Amy. Thanks for making your voice heard.

A fellow Winehouse fan like myself commented to me upon the news,"she just couldn't shake da monkey..." I felt that observation was a little shallow and answered back with, "Addictions, depression and creativity are often friends, too bad no one was in her court enough to help her balance the three. I miss her and I understand." Thankx Amy...see ya around ;-)

Some reports have suggested that she died because she was trying to detox without medical supervision, or more quickly than her doctors wanted her to. If these reports are true then they, and her attempts at daimoku, suggest she was trying to turn herself around.
